The Aeromotive Tsunami, A1000, Eliminator and Pro fuel pumps are all in-line designs, where the fuel runs through the pumping mechanism and then through the electric motor. They will flow methanol and ethanol fuel just like gasoline, but you need to keep a few things in mind: 1.) Reduced electric motor life (up to 75% with methanol, no ethanol data yet) due to electrolysis (gasoline is a great insulator and as fuel flows through the electric motor current does not short through it, alcohol fuels conduct electricity 10x better than gasoline). 2.) Reduced pump life (up to 75% with methanol, no ethanol data yet) due to decreased lubricity. 3.) Reduced O-ring life due to chemical reactions with the fuel. 4.) Reduced HP supported due to the reduced BTU´s of heat in the fuel. The stoichiometry of gasoline (it´s chemical correct ratio of fuel to oxygen) is 14.7:1. Methanol is 6.4:1 and Ethanol is 9.0:1. As a result, the fuel pump´s "rated HP" must be significantly reduces, and of course the engine´s fuel economy will be significantly decreased as well.
