This Chevy 670 steering kit is the best way to upgrade your classic to modern steering if you wish to stay with a steering box. The only superior system is the rack and pinion unit. You won't believe how well your classic Chevy drives once you install this 670 kit. All major components, hardware and instructions needed to complete the installation are included; the only other item you need to choose is the appropriate flex coupler. Your engine must be a short water pump small block Chevy with a harmonic balancer that accepts bolt-on pulleys. If your balancer is the riveted-pulley type, order harmonic balancer P/N 18-35. This 670 power steering kit can be used with the original steering column mast or an ididit tilt column. When using the original steering column, it must be shortened using P/N 53-400 conversion kit in order to make room for the proper flex coupler. This conversion kit also allows the use of original automatic column shift if you wish. All of the original standard steering linkage is maintained while the stock steering box is removed and no longer used.
